INSIDE THE NEW GOLDEN MERCANTILE COOPERATIVE
INSIDE THE NEW GOLDEN MERCANTILE COOPERATIVE
We pride ourselves on working with local producers. We have visited these family farms and have spent time and even holidays with them. It's important for us to continue to work with local producers to ensure a resilient food supply chain and for local producers to make a good living.
Our meat comes from farms where animals get to roam free. We believe food should be produced as close to the table as possible. This relieves stress on the animal and helps ensure a higher quality product for your enjoyment.
The local producers we work with and purchase from are true stewards of the land and work hard to ensure the land and animals are well-cared for.
Our producers use diets that are free from added growth hormones resulting in a natural and fresh product and taste.
Animals needing antibiotic treatment are removed from the animals we purchase for our store.
Animals are raised in a natural environment and are traceable history from birth to slaughter.
Animals are raised in environments that are best for their welfare. Inspections to ensure humane treatment occur on a regular basis including slaughter.
Animals are slaughtered as close to the farm as possible, and slaughters are inspected to ensure humane treatment.
It is imperative for the future of our planet for our producers to use farming and grazing practices that improve soil, enhance biodiversity and increase carbon capture.
Rather than have inedible parts from the animal end up in the landfill, we have partnered with local animal organizations to provide them these items free of charge.
A resilient food supply chain ensures that there is enough for everyone regardless of their position in life. We have partnered with 8 local food pantries and have established a community fridge and pantry that helps get food that might have gone wasted to people who need it most.
Not only do we practice a strong commitment to our community, we work with local producers who also have strong ties to their community and neighborhoods.
Animals are raised in humane living conditions that encourage natural behavior. They have access to outdoors and are raised on small family farms. Animals are either slaughtered on the farm or travel a very short distance to an inspected facility.
